Megan & Harry Exit

I met Caroline Pholien in Belgium, we talked about the ridiculousness of the news towards the MegXit, the media made a huge thing of the Megxit and so did the Oprah Winfrey interview which had a record number of views, peole and the media were according such importance to their leave, felt a bit strange, in a year of such distress.
It therefore came to us as obvious that the best way to approach the Megan and Harry exit was with humour. Megan and Harry surfing to the U.S.A, detaching themselves from their base, the crown which itself, stays.

I worked with Tad mc Buz, on the buckingham palace hat. Just like my moodboard I wanted to recrecreate a buckingham split in two by the leaving of “their” children.
Also the appelation Megxit was created by the media, and a title found by the sun.
So we toyed with idea of having a sun falling upon buckingham and cracking it. I also wanted flashing lights to make the whole thing very dramatic.

We started with a buckingham palace 3D puzzle bought at a seconnd hand charity shop for 5£. This was a perfect model to know what we wanted to do, and to figure the details we wanted to have.

Remote control lights, to be flashing as if buckingham was hit by thunder. Making the whole thing very dramatic and satirical.

Deciding how much of a split/ tear we want to express Buckingham palace broken... I decided to keep it quite subtle as i still wanted to have the building standing straight.

This is the initial makeup look planned by Stefan Lin. We decided to get rid of the corgis as we felt it wasn’t representing Megan and Harry so much but more the queen. Also as there are several looks to do, we have to be as efficient as possible.
