Trump Impeachment

16 th of January 2020

This is one of the first tryout, a 2D flat peach. I wanted to make the peach rounded closer to its fruit aspect.
Trump has been a major part of 2020, his impeachment in January 2020, followed by a second  one the following year, was the a major part of that fatal year. I wanted to play  on words, the word peach in impeachment just like the New York times has done. A falling peach, and just like the animation by  Filipa Castro. So I moulded faces of Trump with the help of my neighbor Cece Westphalen.

We moulded each one in the shape of his iconic “faces”, he pulls up at speeches etc..

We moulded the faces onto fake peaches bought off amazon, first we covered the peach with cling film then we moulded directly onto the peach. We will later cover the mould with vaseline and papier mache over it, hoping to get all the details from
the mould on it.

We had to make each trait very  exaggerated (unlike the picture on the  right) otherwise we would loose a lot of the face details when we papier mache over it.

There is no difference between white and orange das, here they are both rubbed wth vaseline in order to make it possible to demould the papier mache afterwards.

For the  canon,  I started with a bicycle helmet bought for 5£, the helmet was initially bright pink but it was covered  with newspaper. This rough texture was easier to paint. Then I created the canon with cardboards and papier mache. At the last minute, I decided to ask disco mirrors, to make it more fun. Initially I would have loved for the canon to shoot out trump peaches for real on stage, but the mechanism was messy and didn’t look good so I decided against it. Instead I would stick a peach just where the hole was as if about to be shot. I also want  to do a flame at the back hanging along the body. Making the whole thing as ironic as  can be.

The plan for the wheels.

I made the teapot  myself, using  my grandmother technique over the easter hollidays, she paints on porcelain.  I used the same techinique to paint trump’s face, quite a contrast from the flowers she usually paints. I made several versions.
